Fairchild Semiconductor Debuts the FAN7527 PFC Controller IC

April 29, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International (San Jose, CA) announced the FAN7527, a power factor correction (PFC) controller IC for use with power MOSFETs in electronic ballast and other low-power switch-mode power supply applications.

The FAN7527, available in SOP and 8-pin DIP packages, is a boundary-conduction, current-mode controller with low start up and operating current. Its integrated R/C filter eliminates the need for external components. Adjustable over-voltage protection circuitry improves turn-on overshoot and current limiting characteristics. Other features include no-load runaway protection and output drive clamping.

Pricing for the FAN7527 is $0.75 in 1,000-piece quantities. It is currently available with a delivery time of 8 to 10 weeks ARO.
