Fairchild Semiconductor Announces the RC5052 DC/DC Controller

March 12, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor Corp. (Sunnyvale, CA) recently announced the development of a 12V power-supply solution for modern motherboard architectures, the RC5052. The RC5052 is a single-phase synchronous-mode dc/dc controller. The controller is designed to provide highly accurate, user-programmable output voltage for high- and low-end PCs along with low-end work stations.

According to Fairchild, the RC5052 features an on-board five-bit, dc/ac converter matching precisely the processor supply voltage from 1.3V to 3.5V. The device also features remote-voltage sense, programmable active droop, current sense and over-voltage/under-voltage lockout protection.

The RC5052 is available in a 20-pin SOIC package. In quantities of 1,000, pricing for the device is $2.05 each.
