Exide Corp. Awarded Battery Contract

Exide Corp. (Reading, PA) recently announced it has been awarded a contract to supply more than 150,000 military batteries per year for wheeled and tracked vehicles, serving 218 military bases throughout the US. According to Exide, the contract, awarded by the US Defense Logistics Agency's Defense Supply Center, is for an initial two years, with three option years. The company estimates the gross value of the contract is approximately $12.0 million per year."We see this contract as testimony to Exide quality and our ability to meet a wide range of specifications for one of the world's largest customers," said Alan C. Johnson, president and COO of Exide.
