Ericsson Energy Intros PKF4910A DC/DC Converter at APEC

March 23, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Ericsson Energy Systems (Richardson, TX) debuted its new PKF4910A dc/dc converter at the Applied Power Electronics Conference in Dallas last week. The new 3A power module, housed in an 8.5mm-high package, is claimed to offer 50 percent more current than previous models. The PKF4910A's 3.3V (+/-1 percent) factory setting can be adjusted to provide any voltage between 1.8V and 4.1V. According to Ericsson, active temperature compensation ensures low thermal drift of 1mV/C, and enables the module to deliver full power at case temperatures from -45 to +100 degrees C. Features include isolated output, remote control and automatic undervoltage shutdown. Output characteristics and current limit have been optimized to permit parallel operation where higher power is required. The converter also offers 1500Vdc galvanic isolation between input and output. The converter is designed for 50V and 60Vdc systems, with an input range of 38-72V. Line regulation is 12mV (50-72V input) and load regulation is 30mV.
