EOS Launches New MVLT40 Series Switching Power Supply

June 11, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

EOS Corp. (Camarillo, CA) has introduced the MVLT40 Series, the world's smallest and most efficient medically certified 40W open-frame switching power supply, according to EOS. The new full-featured power supply is convection-cooled and comes standard in single and triple output models with the popular 3.3V primary output.

The MVLT40 packs over 5W per cubic inch into a 2" x 4" x 1" footprint, and weighs just 6 ounces. All eight 40W models deliver up to 84 percent efficiency. The lightweight, compact, efficient design of the MVLT40 allows design engineers increased flexibility in their product designs, saves product development costs, improves system reliability and eliminates high levels of heat generated by competing power systems.

The EOS units are designed to power a wide range of medical electronic equipment, including medical test systems, hospital data systems, health-care information systems, touch screen displays, dental equipment, outpatient equipment, laboratory and analysis systems, and medical research equipment.

The EOS MVLT40 40W power supply comes in four single output versions: the MVLT40-1200, which is rated at 5V and 8A; the MVLT40-1201 at 12V and 3.5A; the MVLT40-1202 at 15V and 2.7A; and the MVLT40-1203 at 24V and 1.7A. The MVLT40 Series products weigh just 6 ounces.
