Emerson Energy Systems Launches Actura Power Systems

September 21, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Emerson Energy Systems (Stockholm, Sweden) announced the launching of Actura, a range of power systems with a high power factor and efficiency in relation to cabinet size. The new Actura features true front access, live expandability, self-configuring plug-in units and remote supervision via Emerson's EnergyMaster, the Internet and the Short Message Service. Remote control is possible via standard Internet software. The new exterior design and functionality of the Actura is the same for both 24V and 48V systems. The concept also features the company's power-split functionality for extending existing power systems.

Key component features of the new Actura power systems include compact rectifiers with a high power density, switch-mode technology, constant power matching and low acoustic noise. Other features are differentiation of high- and low-priority loads in order to optimize the battery back-up system. Inverters can be mounted directly in the cabinet when both ac and dc standby systems are needed in areas with limited space.

Actura cuts the time factor during all stages of supply and operation by reducing the amount of engineering work and the time required for on-site installation, testing and supervision. Cabinets are factory-assembled and tested to minimize on-site time and improve electrical safety. Exchangeable, predefined building blocks are used to customize units for customers, enabling shorter lead times.

Actura power systems are CE marked, UL listed and Bellcore tested for installation in earthquake zones. The first products in the series will be available in December 2000.
