Electric Fuel Corp. (New York, NY) announced that its latest Instant Power chargers for PDAs will be shipped early in the second quarter of 2001. The new product lineup includes a charger for Palm V handheld computers that delivers up to 8 full charges. Other new models include chargers for Compaq iPAQ pocket PCs, Handspring Prism and Visor Phone models, and Novatel Minstrel V wireless modems. Chargers for HP Jornada and Casio Cassiopeia models will be available soon.

Instant Power chargers allow users to power their PDAs without the need of an electrical outlet, and to simultaneously keep working while charging even if their battery is dead. The chargers weigh less than three ounces and plug directly into the PDA. Instant Power chargers provide up to three charges for cellular phones. The line also includes models for cellular phones from Nokia, Motorla, Samsung, Ericsson, Panasonic, Siemens and Philips, including Internet-enabled models. Other models are under development.

Pricing for the Instant Power charger, with a reusable SmartCord, is $19.95. Instant Power cartridges are priced at $9.95.
