Elcon Adds Hot-Plug Modules to Crown Edge Line

May 27, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Elcon Products International Co. (Fremont, CA), part of Tyco Electronics' Power Connector Products Group, announced that it has expanded its Crown Edge power connector line with the addition of true hot-plug modules that support current interruption under load by mating with a metal blade or bus bar.

The hot-plug modules incorporate power contacts that confine the effects of arcing to areas that do not compromise the integrity of the connection. The modules comply with the UL 1977 standard for current interruption up to 50 cycles, with a current of 35A at <30 degrees C temperature rise.

Volume pricing starts at <$1.50 for the four-power contact modules and <$2 for the six-power contact modules.
