EERE Announces New Chief Operating Officer

The United States Department of Energy Assistant Secretary Alexander A. Karsner announced that Paul Dickerson J.D., CPA, has joined the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). "Im pleased to have Paul as a member of our team," said Assistant Secretary Karsner. "His extensive experience in management, international trade, accounting, finance, legal and energy issues will be an asset to our organization and to this nation."

As EERE's COO, Dickerson is responsible for day-to-day operational oversight and management of the Office of the Assistant Secretary and for directing the implementation of the EEREs priorities, policies, program development and execution, and strategic planning. With its $1.17 billion budget, EERE invests in a diverse portfolio of energy technologies to with the intention of providing efficient, clean and renewable energy leading toward a stronger economy, a cleaner environment, and greater energy independence for the nation.

Dickerson joins the Department of Energy having served as Chief of Staff for the United States and Foreign Commercial Service (Commercial Service) at the Department of Commerce. In that capacity, Dickerson was responsible for the Commercial Services worldwide network of 1,700 employees in 260 offices, and for directing the implementation of its worldwide programs.

Prior to joining the federal government, Dickerson served as a corporate attorney in the Houston office of Haynes and Boone, LLP, assisting international and domestic clients with their energy and global business transactions. Dickerson is a certified public accountant and a graduate of the South Texas College of Law. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
