Edison International To Cease Operations of Edison EV Unit

According to news reports, Edison International (Los Angeles) is expected to announce that its Edison EV unit will cease operations, possibly within six months. The utility is reportedly concerned that Edison EV's revenue levels do not currently justify a separate business unit. In an e-mail to EV users, Edison stated that, although it "believes in the long-term viability of EVs, the market is growing too slowly to sustain a stand-alone business at this time." Edison EV will reportedly continue operations during the transition period to provide customers and facilities with adequate support until other entities take over its activities.
