Ebus Awarded Contract for New Generation Electric Shuttle

Ebus Inc. (Downey, CA) recently announced it has been awarded a contract from the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District to supply the next generation of the Santa Barbara electric shuttle. The contract consists of an initial order of six vehicles with a follow-on order for another three.According to the company, the new shuttles will be put into service alongside the existing fleet of 18 vehicles. The electric bus program has been in operation for more than 10 years and recently celebrated one million operational miles for the fleet.According to Ebus, the new shuttles will incorporate the electric drivetrain, suspension and steering used in Ebus' 22-foot Trolley Replica and Shuttle Bus, while preserving the unique styling and open-air feeling of the original shuttles. The shuttles will be powered by NiCd batteries driving an ac induction motor."Santa Barbara has long been recognized as the leader in successful electric transportation," said William G. Webster Jr., president of Ebus. "We are excited to have been selected as the vendor of choice for this prestigious program."
