Douglas Battery Introduces Additions to Safeguard Premium Series

May 28, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Douglas Battery's (Winston-Salem, NC) Standby Systems division has introduced three new additions to its Safeguard Premium Series. The three new modular standby systems will offer 1,200Ah, 1,400Ah and 1,600Ah capacity. The new systems are scheduled to be unveiled at Supercomm 2000, June 4-6, 2000.

The increased capacity Safeguard Premium systems are designed as solutions for telecom, UPS and standby power-system needs. Don Lenz, director of stationary sales, says the more powerful systems come in direct response to customer requests. "Time and time again, we're being told that 1,000Ah is just not enough. So we decided to try and meet the demand for increasingly powerful standby systems."

Lenz added, "Douglas Battery Standby Systems produces the Safeguard Premium Series with Swiss partner Oerlikon Stationary Batteries Ltd. (Zurich, Switzerland). The line of valve-regulated, lead-acid batteries has been popular since it became available in 1985. The product's heavy-duty post construction and triple-barrier seal gives it one of the longest life expectancies in the modular standby market." He concluded, "We've been told the Safeguard Premium is a favorite because of its ease of installation and reliability. Now we're adding increased power to that combination."
