di/dt Presents New QmaXTM DC/DC Converters

October 07, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

di/dt Inc. (Carlsbad, CA) announced its new QmaXTM converters, a new line of high-current, dc/dc converters in the quarter-brick format. The QM48T40 and the QM48T45 are the first two series of converters in the QmaXTM line, and deliver 40A and 45A of output current, respectively, with minimal derating at elevated temperatures and low airflow.

The QM48T45033 (45A at 3.3V) delivers 150W with an efficiency as high as 93 percent, and a power density of 145W/in³. The QmaXTM converters come in an open-frame package that does not require a heatsink, and are assembled with 100 percent automation. The converters have dimensions of 1.45in x 2.30in x 0.31in (36.8mm x 58.4mm x 7.9mm) and weigh 1.1oz (30g). The 40A and 45A converters operate from an input voltage of 36V to 75V and are available in standard output voltages of 3.3V, 2.5V, 2.0V, 1.8V, 1.5V, 1.2V and 1.0V.

The QmaXTM converters meet the basic insulation requirements of EN60950, and come with remote sense, input under-voltage lockout, thermal shutdown, remote on/off, output-voltage adjust pin, output over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protections.

In quantities of 1,000 pieces, the QM48T45 is priced at $85, and the QM48T40 is priced at $81. Sample and production quantities are available now.
