Delta Electronics Intros E48SX Series DC-DC Converters

January 19, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Delta Electronics Inc. (Taipei, Taiwan) introduced its E48SX Series of board-mounted, dc-dc power converters, which deliver up to 40 A of output current, or 75 W in a true eighth-brick footprint (0.75 in width) and industry-standard, eighth-brick pinout.

The E48SX, 48 V input, single-output, isolated converter operates from a wide-input voltage range of 36 V to 75 V, and is available in output voltages of 1.2 V to 5 V. The E48SX units have a typical ripple and noise parameter of 16 mV peak-to-peak for 1.2 V output at full load (40 A) and only 20 mVp-p for 1.5 V and 1.8 V outputs at full load (30 A) when tested with a 1 µF ceramic output capacitor.

The Delphi Series E48SX unit offers a fast transient response; when tested with no external output capacitors (compared to others tested with a 10 µF tantalum plus a 1 µF ceramic), typical response is less than 60 mVp-p/30 µS for 100% step-load and 35 mVp-p/30 µS for 25% step-load (1.5 V and 1.8 V outputs).

Sample quantities of the Delphi Series E48SX converters are available. In OEM quantities of 1,000 pieces, pricing is $42. Standard lead time for this product is from stock to eight weeks, depending on the volume.
