DATEL Announces LSN Series DC/DC Converters

May 23, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

DATEL Inc. (Mansfield, MA) announced its LSN D3 Series of non-isolated dc/dc converters that accept 3.3V inputs (3.0V to 3.6V input range) and deliver 1V, 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2V or 2.5V outputs rated at 10A. Employing standard single-in-line packages (SIP) measuring 2in x 0.55in x 0.34in (51mm x 14mm x 8.6mm), the LSN D3 SIPs can be configured in either vertical or horizontal orientations. The former occupies 0.7in² of board space; the latter has a 0.34in (8.6mm) height.

The LSN's power density is achieved with a fully synchronous, fixed-frequency (300kHz), buck topology that delivers high efficiency (95.5 percent for 2.5Vout models at 50 percent load), low noise (10mVp-p typical), tight line/load regulation (±0.1 percent/±0.25 percent maximum), quick step response (100µsec), stable no-load operation (for circuits going into sleep mode) and no output-reverse conduction.

The LSN D3 features output over-current detection, continuous short-circuit protection, a ±10 percent output-voltage trim function, a remote on/off control pin and an output-sense pin. The LSN converters deliver full power to at least +65 degrees C with no supplemental air flow. With minimal air flow (100lfm), all models operate at full power to at least +75 degrees C.

Free samples and evaluation units are available for qualified OEMs, and production quantities up to 25 pieces are immediately available from stock. Production quantities require six to eight weeks. The LSN Series are priced at $19.90 each in singles, and $11.90 each for 10,000 pieces. 50,000 pieces are priced at $9.95.
