March 24, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Danfoss Drives (Rockford, IL) redesigned its VLT 5000 FLUX Series of drives. The new 90 kW to 200 kW, 125 HP to 300 HP units are engineered to provide increased reliability, higher performance, lower installation costs and lower overall costs of ownership. The enhanced design provides an optimized drive solution for industrial applications.

Enhanced features of the redesigned units include built-in RFI performance to EN 55011 class B; integral disconnect with option of available fuses; new power termination design for easy installation, accepting single-box lug or dual-cable legs; logic routing with tie-down provisions to simplify installation and protect against noise disturbance; 98-percent operating efficiency; options available from Rittal for easy installation of IP00 units in Rittal TS8 enclosures; and ambient temperature ratings of 40 °C to 45 °C in VT mode and 50 °C with changes in switching pattern.
