Danaher Intros New CARTRIDGE DDR Servomotors

April 06, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Danaher Corp. (Washington, DC) introduced its new Kollmorgen CARTRIDGE direct drive rotary (DDR) servomotors, which combines the performance advantages of frameless direct drive motors with the ease of installation of a full-frame motor, and at a significantly reduced price point than conventional direct drive technology.

The CARTRIDGE DDR motors feature pre-engineered components; an integrated, factory-aligned, high-resolution feedback device; and a bearing-less design that facilitates "mount-and-run" operation in under than 30 minutes. The CARTRIDGE DDR motors also feature an advanced electromagnetic design that provides up to 50-percent more torque density than comparably sized conventional servomotors.

The CARTRIDGE DDR motors are available in two frame sizes, with three stack lengths per frame. Voltage ratings are available in 230 V, 400 V and 480 V for maximum design flexibility and robust operation. They provide 50 N-m to 510 N-m continuous torque, peak torque to 1,100 N-m, and speeds to 1,200 rpm.
