CUI Intros New MAS42 and MAH42 Compact Encoders

April 28, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

CUI Inc. (Beaverton, OR) introduced its new MAS42 and MAH42 compact absolute encoders, designed for applications where limited space is a consideration and up to 12 bits of resolution is needed. Typical applications include testing devices, printing machines and measuring instruments.

Measuring 52 mm x 30 mm, the series is available in shaft (6 mm shaft diameter) and hollow-shaft (10 mm bore diameter) versions. The units deliver eight bits (256 PPR) to 12 bits (4096 PPR) of absolute position information with a gray code, natural binary, or BDC output. Capable of operating within a -10 °C to +70 °C temperature range, the units can accurately measure the rotary process as fast as 6,000 rpm. The MAS42 and MAH42 can accept 5 Vdc and 12 Vdc to 24 Vdc input-supply voltage with a 100 mA max current.

Pricing for the MAS42 and MAH42 absolute encoders starts at $193 per unit in 1,000-piece quantities. Availability is five to seven weeks production.
