Cornell Dubilier Debuts SPV Series Capacitors

July 09, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Cornell Dubilier Electronics Inc. (CDE, New Bedford, MA) announced its new SPV Series of surface-mount, aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a solid-polymer cathode. The new capacitors have a high ripple-current capability and an ultra-low ESR (typically 10mW to 20mW at 100kHz) for performance in bulk-storage, decoupling and ripple-filtering applications. The capacitor is suitable for use in dc/dc power conversion circuits.

The solid-polymer cathode does not dry out over time and capacitance and ESR are stable over the rated temperature range of -55 to +105 degrees C. The SPV Series is available in three case sizes of 8.0mm x 6.9mm, 10.0mm x 7.9mm and 10.0mm x 10.2mm. The capacitance range is from 22µF to 680µF, the rated voltage is from 6.3Vdc to 25Vdc, and ripple-current ratings are up to 5.1A at 100kHz.

The SPV Series is packaged on tape-and-reel in quantities of 500 and 1,000 per reel, according to case size. Samples are available from stock. Production quantities are available from stock to 12 weeks. Pricing ranges from $0.55 to $0.85 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
