September 21, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Condor Inc. (Oxnard, CA) introduced the new GLD140 and GLD150 medical power supplies. Both series offer power-factor correction for use in systems for worldwide applications. Condor claims that the new models were designed with conservative derating and design margins in order to ensure reliable operation in all medical systems.

The GLD150 is a single-output power-supply available in five models with output voltages of 12Vdc, 15Vdc, 24Vdc, 28Vdc and 48Vdc. Measuring 4" x 7" x 1.7", it can provide 150W of continuous power with convection cooling, or 180W of power with forced-air cooling.

The GLD140 is a four-output version available in seven models with combinations of 3.3Vdc, 5Vdc, 12Vdc, 15Vdc and 24Vdc outputs. It supports 140W of continuous power with convection cooling, and 180W of power with forced-air cooling. It measures 4" x 8.5" x 1.95" and provides 3.8W per cubic inch.

Both products meet worldwide safety requirements, including UL2601; CSA 22.2, No. 601.1; and EN60601. Both have remote sense, ac power-fail and dc power-good signals. An auxiliary fan output is provided, or a cover/fan assembly may be added.

Both the GLD140 and the GLD150 are priced under $170 in OEM quantities. Additionally, both products are available immediately.
