Compaq Computer Corp. (Houston, TX) has introduced a new rack-mountable UPS, the UPS R1500 XR. Rated up to 1,500VA/1,340W, the new model is a high-density system designed to provide power protection in space-constrained environments.

The UPS R1500 XR is an enhancement of the R1500 UPS. The “XR" denotes “eXtended Runtime-capable". The system can be connected to up to two optional extended runtime modules. Key features include a 2U design, enhanced battery management, Compaq option cards for increased flexibility and remote-monitoring capabilities. In addition, the model features a front-panel display and independently controllable load segment. The UPS R1500 XR supports the six-port card and the SNMP/Serial Port card.
