Compact, Open Frame 500W Medical Grade AC-DC

Tumbler Technologies + TRUMPower has introduced a new series of low-profile, open-frame power supplies that address the need for 500W solutions that support the medical sector.

The new TSM500 series comes as a low profile, open frame PCB measuring 5in by 3in by 1.38in. Capable of delivering 508.6W of continuous output power with 25 CFM of user-provided forced air cooling or it can provide 240W at convection cooling. It offers a single output of 12V, 15V, 19V, 24V, 30V, 36V, or 48V at efficiencies up to 92%, depending on the model.

The power supply can withstand voltages of 4,000Vac from input to output and 2,000Vac from input to ground. It is equipped with remote on/off capabilities and 5V standby and fan power with a no-load power consumption of 1W typically. At 240Vac and 60Hz the series has an earth leakage current measuring 100µA maximum.

Operating at a 90Vac to 264Vac universal input, the series supports a wide range of environmental conditions including operating altitudes up to 5,000m and operating temperatures between -40°C to +70°C ambient, while derating linearly from 100% load at +50°C to 50% load at +70°C.

Protections include standard over-voltage, overload, and short circuit. A 200,000 hours-minimum MTBF at full load, 25°C ambient, calculated per MIL-HDBK-217F, makes it highly reliable.

The TSM500 is approved to the latest medical standards, including IEC/EN/UL 60601-1 Edition 3.1, ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1: 2012, and CSA C22.2 No. 60601-1: 2014. The PCB power supply complies with IEC/EN 60601-1-2 4th edition medical EMC and immunity standards including FCC/VCCI class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 61000-4-2, EN61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, and EN 61000-4-11.
