February 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Chroma ATE (Irvine, CA) has

introduced the 8000 Series for power supply testing. The company claims that the new system is a rack of power test components and software designed to deliver fast test speeds and design verification and analysis tools.

The 8000 Series features user-selectable hardware and software modules, which Chroma ATE maintains makes the system ideal for design verification, incoming inspection, production test, burn-in, ESS (Environmental Stress Screening), and final assembly test of power supplies, modules, battery chargers, and power entry modules.

The 8000 Series features over 50 standard power tests. Its PowerPro software allows the user to define pre- and post- tests. In addition, the software fully integrates Tektronix and other digital oscilloscopes with the software. Built around industry standard IEEE-488, RS-485 and RS-232 buses, the 8000 Series supports Chroma's entire line of ac sources, dc sources, load modules, power meters, and parallel measurement devicesm, as well as over 100 DMMs, oscilloscopes, loads, sources, and other instruments.

Available hardware components include ac sources from single-phase 500VA to three-phase 6000VA/phase and individual dc

sources to 600Vdc up to 350A and 6,000W. A variety of loads are also available. Pricing for the 8000 Series varies with the customer's chosen applications. Delivery is 4 to 8 weeks ARO.
