Chroma ATE Announces the 6340 Electronic Load Series

March 05, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Chroma ATE (Irvine, CA) introduced the 6340 Electronic Load Series, which it claims is one of the fastest slew rate loads on the market. The loads, with a 500-nanosecond or 1-microsecond rise time for any load step, are capable of testing voltage regulation on power supplies used with GHz processor computers and other applications, such as storage area networks and web servers.

Designed for bench-top use or mounted in a rack for a fully automated test system, the Chroma 6340 Series offers 625W, 150A and 1250W, 300A models. The series has an operating voltage of 0.6V (0.8V for dynamic pulsing). A built-in 14-bit measurement board provides readings of all VRM measurements, including current, power supply and load voltage, as well as output voltage overshoot and undershoot of load steps. Through the front panel controls, or RS-232C or GPIB interface, the user can set overshoot and undershoot limits. The 6340 Series addresses current-sharing and hot-swappable power supply applications. Up to five power modules on the 625W models, or 10 power modules for the 1025W model, can be connected and tested in parallel.

Available in three models, the 6340 Series starts at $14,600 for the 625W, 150A, 1(mu)S rise-time Model 6345. The lowest-cost 500nS version is the Model 6346, 625W and 150A, priced at $17,600. Deliveries are from stock to four weeks ARO. All loads come with a one-year warranty.
