August 08, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Cherokee International LLC (Tustin, CA) introduced its new CAP1000 high-power 1000W modular switch-mode power supplies. The new power supplies are designed to meet the stringent quality demands of computer, telecommunications and industrial equipment OEMs. The CAP1000 is available in several different models and voltage combinations with one to eight outputs. Standard features include a power factor corrected input mains that complies with EN61000-3-2, and EMI filtering that meets both conducted and radiated FCC class B (EN55022/11) EMC conformance. Input is 85-264Vac continuous range operation, 47-63Hz, single phase. Available output voltages include 2.5, 3.3, 5.0, 12, 15, 24, 48 and 54Vdc. Each single output module can deliver a maximum of 150A or 600W. Dual output modules carry a maximum output rating of 80A per channel for a combined output power rating of 600W. Combined line-load regulation is 1 percent for all outputs. PARD/Ripple and noise is 1 percent peak to peak on all models. Additional features include output loading from no load to full load, remote on/off-enable/inhibit, TTL compatible signals for input power fail and dc good, single wire current sharing and margining on outputs V1 and V2. Protection circuitry includes total power limit, current limit, overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, reverse voltage protection and internal fusing. Safety agency approvals include CE Marking, UL1950 recognized, CSA C22.2 Nos. 950 & 234 certified, TUV licensed to IEC950 and EN60950. The CAP1000 enclosure, including internal fan, measures 11" x 3.95" x 5". Small quantity pricing starts at $795.
