Cherokee International Intros LP5 DC/DC Converter

November 21, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Cherokee International LLC (Tustin, CA) introduced the LP5 isolated dc/dc SIP mount converter. The new LP5 represents the most recent complement to the company's line of catalog dc/dc product offerings. Cherokee's LP5 converters are designed for 48V telecom and distributed power application where motherboard space is limited. LP5 Module is claimed to provide precise regulation, fast transient response and high efficiency.

Additional features include a typical efficiency of more than 80 percent at 25 degrees C, 500Vdc isolation input to output, and an operating temperature of -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C. Moreover, the LP5 comes equipped with over-voltage protection as well as over-current and short-circuit protection. No minimum load is required, and the dimensions of the device are 2.7" x 0.5" x 0.495". The series has a choice of three dc input models of 12Vdc, 24Vdc and 48Vdc. Output voltage/current combinations are: 2.5V, 2.5A; 3.3V, 3.0A; and 5V, 3.0A. A SIP mounting style is the standard, though a SMT mount option will be available in the first quarter of 2001.

Small quantitiy pricing starts at $49.00 each. Samples are available from stock.
