Celestica Debuts Volant Series DC-DC Converters

January 26, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Celestica Power Systems (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) announced the expansion of its Volant Series converters, with 16A and 10A, non-isolated, point-of-load solutions. The Volant Series provide high-efficiency, low-cost solutions for computing, storage and communications equipment.

The new 16A model offers flexibility with a programmable output voltage through use of an external resistor. The 10A model is now expanded to include output voltages of 0.9V, 1V, 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V. With efficiencies of up to 96%, the Volant Series delivers output current and thermal derating performance.

Using industry-standard pin configurations, the Volant Series is available in both SIP and SMT packages for highly dense systems requiring optimum board real estate. The SMT package is available in a 1.30in x 0.53in x 0.33in form factor, while the SIP package dimensions are 2in x 0.327in x 0.50in.

The 16A and 10A Volant Series dc-dc converters will be available starting mid January. Pricing at 1,000 units ranges from $13.00 to $13.50 based on output current and package.
