C&D Unveils WPN20R Series Converters

September 18, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

C&D Technologies (Blue Bell, PA) announced its new WPN20R Series of 20W dc/dc converters, which offer an operating temperature specification of -40 to +105 degrees C with no output power derating, making it ideal for use in environments that require flexibility and robust performance.

While developed primarily to meet the requirements of the telecommunications and datacommunications markets, the new dc/dc converter is also suitable for numerous applications in battery-powered systems, process control equipment and distributed power systems.

The WPN20R is available with three wide-range input voltages of 9V to 18V, 18V to 36V or 33V to 75V, and can be specified with a choice of seven single or dual outputs of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, +/-5V, +/-12V or +/-15V.

Using forward converter topology with a 300kHz switching frequency, it achieves a high efficiency of typically 86 percent.

The WPN20R carries EN60950, VDE, UL1950 and CSA 22.2 No 950 approvals, and meets the requirements of EN55022 Levels A and B for conducted emissions. The WPN20R is housed in a space-saving aluminium package measuring 50.55mm x 40.39mm x 10.8mm and features an industry-standard pinout.

Pricing for the WPN20R Series dc/dc converter is $32.58 for quantities in excess of 100.
