Camden Electronics Introduces Upgraded and Enhanced Range of Lead-Acid Batteries

June 05, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Camden Electronics (UK) introduced its upgraded and enhanced Eleckson range of sealed lead-acid batteries, the UL-approved Europa Plus family. Offering UL 94 V0 flame-retardant cases as standard, the batteries are suitable for use in fire-alarm and emergency-lighting systems, as well as a wide range of applications such as cable television, communications equipment, computer back-up, control equipment, marine equipment, portable lighting, power tools, solar-powered systems, UPSs, vending machines and power supplies.

The new Europa Plus batteries are available in a range of capacities from 1.3Ah to 11Ah, encompassing both 6V and 12V versions. Various connector styles can be supplied, including two types of Faston tabs and three types for M5 bold fastening. The batteries are based on absorbent glass mat (AGM) separator construction with the acid gel contained in AGM to give non-spillable construction.

Additional features of the Europa Plus range include a typical self-discharge rate of less than three percent per month. A low-pressure relief valve opens for gassing, and seals to prevent oxygen ingress. The range offers up to five years of float service.
