Calex Presents New HE Series DC/DC Converters

March 31, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Calex Manufacturing Co. (Concord, CA) announced the 75W triple-output HE dc/dc converter series, which is packaged in an industry-standard half-brick case. All models provide three precisely regulated dc outputs with low noise and high efficiency. Two input ranges are available, 18Vdc to 36Vdc and 36Vdc to 75Vdc. The primary output voltages are 3.3V at 20A or 5V at 15A. The auxiliary outputs are ±12V or ±15V at ±2A. The user can load-share on the outputs as long as the maximum power on all three outputs does not exceed 75W.

The HE Series provides isolation input to output. Isolation voltage is 1,544Vdc for all models. The switching frequency is 430KHz. Efficiencies run as high as 88 percent. The HE models provide excellent thermal performance with a metal baseplate for heatsinking in extended temperature applications. The case temperature operating range for the HE Series is -40 to +100 degrees C. The converters feature thermal shutdown with auto restart for fail-safe operation. The case size is 2.28in x 2.4in x 0.55in.

The HE Series features remote on-off for power conservation. The unit also provides voltage trim and sense for compensating for voltage drops due to long leads, temperature, etc. The trim range is ±10 percent. The HE Series also features pulse-by-pulse current limiting with short-circuit frequency foldback, auto soft-start and volt-seconds clamp.

The HE Series is priced at $118.
