BTCPower Launches S25 Series of Converters

March 14, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Broadband TelCom Power Inc. (BTCPower, Santa Ana, CA) recently launched the new BTCPower S25 Series of 25W converters. The series is suitable for use in Internet and network hardware requiring miniaturized power supplies and no airflow. The system is also applicable to industrial electronics, mobile communications and distributed power equipment.

The BTCPower S25 Series module offers two input voltage ranges of 18V to 36V and 36V to 72V. Output voltages are 2.5V, 3.3V or 5V. All models feature input pi filters, input under-voltage lockout, output-current limiting and short-circuit protection. The S25 Series is compatible with standard Lucent pin configurations.

The S25 converters feature a six-sided aluminum shielding case that, the company claims, achieves 100-percent EMI screening. They operate with no derating in ambient temperature between -40 and 60 degrees C, with no airflow. With airflow, the converters operate without derating between -40 and 100 degrees C. High-power density is up to 30W per cubic inch.

“Similar conventional power supplies do not have such a low profile and are not as efficient," commented James Lau, president of BTCPower. “S25 converters only measure 2.0" x 1.2" x 0.35" and have an efficiency rating over 90 percent."
