BMZ Group Investing €120 Million in Battery System Factory

September 24, 2018 by Paul Shepard

The BMZ Group is investing further €120 million in the expansion of the production of battery systems. "By the end of September 2019, the second of three construction phases in Karlstein will be completed, in which high-tech products will be built," says Sven Bauer, owner of the BMZ Group.

At Karlstein, an additional production hall with 3.000 m² production area and 80 office workstations will be built for further growth. Commissioning is planned for September 2019. At the same time, a 20-meter high logistic center with 12,000 pallet spaces will be built by October 2019, in order to be able to supply every customer in Europe with the appropriate batteries in time.

At the same time, the plants in Poland and China will be expanded. In total, BMZ is investing €120 million in this industry of the future in order to secure long-term employment in Germany.

"Already in 2019, the new building alone will create further 300 jobs at Karlstein", says Sven Bauer. As part of the expansion, BMZ is constantly looking for developers for hardware and software as well as employees for the construction of production lines such as: fitter, electrician and programmable logic controller.

Among other things, BMZ builds batteries for cranes, excavators and buses at Karlstein, as well as lawn robots and electric bicycles. The field of solar home storage systems, which store the surplus electricity of the photovoltaic system and make the detached house independent of the public power grid, is highly innovative and strongly growing.

Such storage systems ensure that the private person no longer has to buy electricity, but can live independently. This allows monthly savings, e.g. from about €150. Leasing models for less than €100 a month are now available for such storage systems and solar systems, making these systems profitable.
