BMW Searching for Partners for Hydrogen-Powered Vehicles

July 15, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

BMW (Germany) announced that it is looking for partners in the automotive industry and elsewhere to help it bring hydrogen-powered vehicles to market.

The announcement was made as BMW brought a fleet of 10 hydrogen-powered sedans to California to test at its facility in Oxnard. The vehicles run on either gasoline or liquid hydrogen cooled to sub-zero temperatures and carried in insulated 37-gallon tanks behind the rear seats. One tank provides a cruising range of about 217 miles.
