Beta Dyne Intros PowerWatt Series DC/DC Converters

February 07, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Beta Dyne Inc. (Bridgewater, MA) introduced its new 50W PowerWatt Series of dc/dc converters. The initial offering is a family of 50W single-output dc/dc converters available in two pin arrangements: an SMD S version (1in × 2in × 0.380in) and a through-hole T version (1in × 2in × 0.430in).

The high efficiency (up to 92 percent) and density is a result of innovative patent-pending designs utilizing improved synchronous rectification techniques and planar magnetics. The high efficiency, coupled with a multilayer PCB and thermal management, minimizes power dissipation and allows the converter to operate without an external heatsink. The through-hole and surface-mount pins allow for low-cost installation and act as an integrated heatsink for the converter, while the smaller-than-quarter-brick size allows for many system options.

Pricing is $64.35 in OEM quantities. Samples are now available.
