Beta Dyne Announces SR40 and SR80 Regulators

January 19, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Beta Dyne Inc. (Bridgewater, MA) announced two new switching regulators, the SR40 and SR80, which are constant-frequency, current-mode, step-up converters with line and load regulation and efficiency up to 95 percent. Suitable applications include battery chargers/backup systems, external modems, xDSL power supplies, telecom hardware, LAN and network systems, and point-of-sale systems.

The SR40 accepts 5V to 10V input and provides 9Vdc, 12Vdc, 15Vdc, 18Vdc and 24Vdc output. The SR80 accepts 10V to 18V input and provides 15Vdc, 18Vdc and 24Vdc output. The SR40 delivers 40W to the load, while the SR80 delivers 80W. The SR80 requires a low impedance power source or minimum 2,000µF input and 1,000µF output capacitors for proper operation. Features include a wide input range of 5V to 18V, input under-voltage protection, external synchronization, 300kHz constant frequency, 44W/in³ power density, and six-sided shielding. The package size of both models is 2in x 2in x 0.5in. Units are available four to six weeks ARO. Pricing for both models starts at $65 each, and discounts are available for larger quantities.
