Ballard Unveils 30 kW Ecostar PV Power Converter

Ballard Power Systems Inc. (Vancouver, BC, Canada) unveiled its new 30 kW Ecostar™ power converter, designed for photovoltaic (PV) applications. The 30 kW, grid-tie, utility interactive, power converter combines inverter and transformer efficiency with ease of installation. Ballard’s 30kW converter product offers customers improved reliability and up-time while reducing the payback period for the product investment. The 30 kW product joins Ballard’s recently announced 75 kW grid-tie inverter.

With peak inverter efficiency of 97%, transformer efficiency of 97.5% and standby tare losses of 25 W, the 30 kW Ecostar power converter is available in North America, is UL listed, is backed by a five-year warranty, and is available now in two models to support 208 V and 480 V grids.
