AVX Introduces New Maxi-Plus Series Capacitors

November 01, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, CA) has introduced the Maxi-Plus Series of capacitors, a series of K30,000 dielectric with X7R temperature characteristics. The SLC Series is designed to operate in the millimeter bands with an ultra-low equivalent series resistance specifically for the RF/microwave, optical and cellular markets.

According to AVX, the electrical advantage of this dielectric is the built-in characteristic of an extremely broadband, by-pass capacitor. Additionally, the high dielectric constant allows for a compact package up to 60 percent smaller than previously offered.

"The MaxiPlus single-layer capacitors can be used in high-frequency broadband applications where most single-layer capacitors are less than ideal," explained Larry Eisenberger, AVX product manager. "The broadband characteristics and high dielectric constant make this product perfect for use in wireless and optical communications products."

The Maxi-Plus Series of capacitors are available in six standard sizes with custom sizes available. SLC Series capacitors are available with lead times from stock to six weeks.
