AVX Debuts New USB Series Voltage Suppressors

February 05, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC) introduced the USB Series of transient voltage suppressors. The new line of miniature surface-mount devices provide electrical performance in computer I/O ports, USB ports, infrared ports and links, and RF links, as well as keyboard and mouse circuitry. The USB Series chips are based on AVX’s multilayer varistor technology, providing bi-directional ESD protection, EMI attenuation and sub-nanosecond response time.

The miniature USB Series chips are available in an 0603 standard case size, as well as in 0405 two-capacitor array and 0612 four-capacitor array sizes. Available in 18V with a 0.0150J energy rating and a typical capacitance range from 22pf at 1MHz, all USB Series chips are rated for operation over the full temperature range from -55 to +125 degrees C.

Pricing for the USB Series chips range from $0.045 to $0.07, dependent on volume, with a lead time from stock to six weeks.
