March 28, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

AVO International (Dallas, TX) added a new ohmmeter to its product line, the Megger Ducter DLRO10X. The company claims that this is the first portable field test instrument to have memory and downloading features. It weighs 2.5kg and features 0.2 percent basic accuracy. In addition, the DLRO10X gives results in approximately two seconds and has 'go'/'no go' testing. The Megger Ducter DLRO10X is suitable for use in the utilities, telecom, transportation and manufacturing industries in a range of applications including materials receiving, inspection of components, ground bonding and welded joints.

The Megger Ducter DLRO10X features auto-current reversal to cancel standing EMFs. It is fuse-protected to 600V, and uses a NiMH battery. The device has a 250mW power limit, with optional override, and automatically detects continuity in potential and current connections. The DLRO10X has visible warning for high voltages and for current flowing. It features multiple operating modes, including fully automatic, user-settable high and low limits and printer output and memory.

The unit's memory can store up to 700 test results, which can be downloaded to a PC over an RS232 link. The DLRO10X measures 8.6" x 4.0" x 9.5" and weighs 5.7 pounds.
