July 26, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Ault Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) introduced its new 15W to 48W universal power supply, the PW160. This external, universal power supply is currently available in 3V, 5V, 7V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 16V, 18V, 24V and 48V models with an input voltage of 100Vac to 250Vac, making it suitable for a variety of applications in the data communications and telecommunications markets.

Measuring 4.2in x 2.6in x 1.46in, the CE-rated, desktop-style power supply is part of a series of products developed for OEMs in the broadband, wireless, data acquisition and medical equipment markets. The PW160 has TUV/IEC950, UL1950, CSA950 and MITI safety-approval ratings as well as Australian approval. A medical version, the MW160, is also available.

"The introduction of the PW160 universal power supply is part of Ault's strategic plan," explained Greg Harris, Ault's vice president of business development. "We made a commitment to re-engineer the products in our most popular power ranges in order to increase efficiencies in terms of overall product size and cost. The PW160 family replaces many models that had larger footprints and older technologies."
