Astec Power Announces the HPS10 and HPS12 Power Supply Modules

July 25, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Astec Power (Carlsbad, CA) announced the addition of the new HPS10 and HPS12 models to its HPS Series of bulk front-end switching-power supplies. Each HPS10 module can deliver up to 1,000W of output power; and each HPS12 module can deliver up to 1,250W of output power. A full HPR3 rack, which will accommodate up to four HPS modules, can deliver up to 4,000W or 5,000W.

The HPS Series features a universal ac-input range spanning from 85Vac to 264Vac with power-factor correction. Each module has over-voltage and overload protection on all outputs, as well as active inrush current-limiting circuitry, remote sense capability on the main output, and an internal OR-ing diode. The modules require no minimum load.

Standard features of the HPS10 and HPS12 include a built-in 25W, 5V stand-by supply; forced current sharing between paralleled modules; and remote programmability of the main output voltage. Additionally, all HPS modules can be ordered with an optional 60W auxiliary (12V or 24V) output intended for driving fan trays, optional current-monitoring capability, an ac-line discriminator and failed-fan signaling capability. All HPS modules are hot-pluggable and comply with safety and performance standards, including UL, CSA, CE, BABT, IEC, TUV and CB.

Astec Power's HPS10 and HPS12 modules are available now. The HPS10 module is priced starting at $531 each.
