APT Announces New 200V Schottky Diodes

August 23, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Power Technology (APT, Bend, OR) has introduced a line of rugged 200V Schottky diodes that offer performance improvements over existing fast-recovery epitaxial didoes (FREDs).

These enhancements include lower forward-voltage drop to minimize conduction loss, enabling higher power-conversion efficiencies; softer reverse-recovery characteristics, resulting in reduced EMI; and are avalanche energy rated, offering improved reliability.

The Schottky diodes are claimed to deliver 10 to 15 percent lower losses compared to FREDs at similar voltage ratings. They can also replace FREDs as output rectifiers in high-power, 48V telecom rectifiers and dc/dc converters, and as free-wheeling and anti-parallel diodes in low-voltage converters.

The product line includes the APT100S20B, APT100S20LCT and the APT2X101S20J. These devices are rated at 100A, with an avalanche energy of 100mJ. They are housed in TO-247, TO-264 and SOT-227, respectively. Pricing, in 1,000-piece volumes, ranges from $5.75 to $23.
