Apex Announces PA50 and PA52 Power Operation Amplifiers

May 03, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Apex Microtechnology Corp. (Tucson, AZ) announced its new PA50 and PA52 power operational amplifiers. Both the PA50 and PA52 are chip-and-wire hybrid solutions, rated at 40A continuous, with 100A output in one- to three-millisecond pulses. The PA50 and PA52 have a power bandwith of 400kHz and a slew rate of 50V/µs. The devices are able to operate off supplies as low as 10V. The two differ on their upper-end supplies, which are 100V for the PA50 and 200V for the PA52.

The PA50 and PA52 are housed in a 12-pin hermetically sealed package capable of 400W of internal power dissipation. Features such as current limit must be done outside the package, however. Key applications include semiconductor capital equipment such as pin drivers, 3-ATE and PPS, as well as industrial controls such as sonar transducer drivers, dc motor drives and magnetic deflection.
