APC Step-Down Transformer

American Power Conversion (APC, West Kingston, RI) recently announced the APC Step-Down Transformer, a rack-mount accessory that expands the 120V capacity of APC's Smart-UPS 5000 to 4500VA. The 2U (3.5 inch) Step-Down Transformer adds 12 additional 5-15R 120V receptacles. Users can have the entire rack configuration protected and managed from a single UPS and Step-Down Transformer. According to APC, the APC Smart-UPS 5000 rack mount and tower solutions are among the smallest 500VA units in the UPS industry. The devices use only 5U of rack space (22.25cm/8.75in.) and a footprint of 19.6 x 43.2cm/8.7 x 17in., respectively. Estimated retail price of the APC Smart-UPS 5000 is $689.
