APC Intros New TSP Power Systems

June 03, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

American Power Conversion (APC, West Kingston, RI) introduced its complete line of TSP (Total Solution Power) outdoor power systems, which are deployed in coaxial cable television, hybrid fiber/coax broadband, and other multi-service broadband networks.

The new products offer a modular design that incorporates a transformer module and an electronics module allowing for easier installation and serviceability. Upward migration from a non-standby to a full-featured, standby uninterruptible power supply is easily achieved with the addition of an electronics module and batteries.

The unit can be deployed in 120Vac, 60Hz; 240Vac, 60Hz; or 230Vac, 50Hz applications. The TSP modules can be shelf-mounted into any of APC's universal enclosures, or adapted for non-APC enclosures. With state-of-the-art battery charging and a built-in microprocessor, it constantly monitors battery requirements and provides adequate recharge current. The electronics module is insulated from damaging heat as it is designed for 158 degrees F (70 degrees C) continuous-duty operation and does not require a cooling fan.
