Alliance Semiconductor Unveils ASM8P18Sxx PWM Controllers

June 27, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Alliance Semiconductor Corp. (Santa Clara, CA) announced its new family of pulse-width modulator (PWM) controllers with integrated electro-magnetic interference (EMI) reduction technology for low-noise, switched-mode power supply (SMPS) converter and inverter applications. The ASM8P18Sxx family of PWM controllers is designed to replace the series of 184X/384X PWM controllers, but with the additional advantage of a built-in EMI reduction engine. The additional EMI reduction capability has been achieved by implementing Alliance Semiconductor's proprietary Spread Spectrum Modulation technology.

The ASM8P18Sxx controllers support both off-line inverter and dc-dc converter designs. Available in both eight-pin SOIC and DIP packages, Alliance offers commercial and industrial temperature grades, with standard tin-lead/RoHS and/or green-compliant products. The new product introduction marks Alliance Semiconductor's launch into the power semiconductor market.

Samples are now available, with initial pricing set at $2.00 in 1,000-unit quantities.
