Albacom Releases the HV 120 Resonant Power Supply

May 10, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Albacom Ltd. (Scotland) has developed the HV 120, a new resonant power supply that produces a controllable high-frequency high-voltage sinusoidal alternating current output. The unit is claimed to deliver up to 10kW of power at configurable output voltages of up to 20kV peak to peak. Power conversion efficiency is typically 95 percent, and the three-phase power factor is better than 0.9.

Albacom's new HV 120 features a resonant power converter that incorporates zero-switching techniques and will automatically tune to the resonant frequency of the load.

Operating frequencies vary according to load, with a typical power level in the 20kHz to 40kHz range. No user adjustment of operating frequency is necessary. The HV 120 is designed to meet the CE requirements for EMC and electrical safety. Typical applications include corona generation, ozone generation and induction heat.
