Albacom Introduces New HV 101 Series of Resonant Inverters

January 03, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Albacom Ltd. (Dundee, Scotland) has launched its HV 101 Series of resonant inverters. The 10kW unit has been demonstrated at 95 percent to 98 percent efficiency and has recently entered production for a UK company.

The HV 101 Series measures 150 x 150 x 400mm, weighs 12kg, employs resonant technology and is designed to operate from a wide range of input supplies. It converts the input supply to either ac or dc output. The frequency range for ac outputs is 20kHz to 100kHz. Power levels ranging from 0.2kW to 10kW, 20kW, 30kW and 40kW, with a control range of 5 percent to 100 percent are possible.

The output voltage from the resonant inverter is a quasi-sinewave, which can be used to provide an ac or dc output over a very wide range of voltages using a compact transformer or transformer-rectifier unit. Typical applications for this series are in industrial processing systems, plastics pre-treatment corona generation, high-powered lasers, ozone generators, wind-energy systems and remote power systems.
