Aimtec Releases POL DC-DC Converters Programmable Up to 16A

May 30, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Aimtec has expanded its dc-dc product line with the addition of non-isolated point-of-load converters that meet 5 and 12V input bus requirements. The AMPL-UZ 10A and AMPL-UZ 16A series POL converters are claimed to provide exceptional performance in a compact 1.3 x 0.53 x 0.27 inch (33 x 13.46 x 6.7mm) industry standard SMD footprint, allowing for significant real estate savings and close-to-load placement to reduce power losses and improve transient response.

With programmable low output ranges of 0.75 to 5V, all models are said to be feature rich with no minimum load operation, remote output sense, over current and over temperature protection, remote On/Off control and standard trim equations, the sum of which is claimed to distinguish Aimtec’s units in the market.

Targeted to meet the demands of Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) applications, the AMPL-UZ 10A and AMPL-UZ 16A provide a high efficiency rate of up to 97%, with advanced thermal properties to ensure what is said to be flawless operation within a temperature range of -40 to +85°C.

Designed for versatility, the AMPL-UZ POL converters are well suited to meet a wide variety of technical configurations, including low-voltage applications where more current is required (with inputs of 5 or 12V), critical voltage requirements (with up to 9 preset output voltages) and nonstandard output voltages conditions (with use of an external resistor). Made with RoHS compliant materials, samples are available from stock and can be ordered immediately.
