Aimtec Introduces New 30W DC-DC Converter

August 03, 2010 by Jeff Shepard

Aimtec introduced a 30W dc-dc converters with a wide (2:1) input range that pack 15W/psi in a compact 2 x 1" package, which the company says saves up to 35% PCB space compared to other 30W converters in a 2 x 1.6" package.

Wide (2:1) input ranges of 9~18Vdc,18~36Vdc and 36~75Vdc provide the flexibility that is required for applications with loosely regulated inputs or with battery powered applications where input voltages can vary greatly with the battery levels.

The AM30E-Zseries offers input/output isolation of 1600Vdc to protect the load circuit from any transient voltage surges present at the input of the converter.

Single and dual outputs include 3.3, 5, 5.1, 12 and 15Vdc feature a tight load regulation of ±0.5% (single output) and continuous short circuit protection with auto recovery restart to protect the converter, the load, and the converter’s input circuit from extremely high currents, as caused by a short circuit.

Other value added features of AM30E-Zseries include soft start, which contributes to an MTBF of 435,000 hours; remote ON/OFF control and a cold start up temperature of -40°C, allowing these robust modules to answer the needs of a broad range of industrial control and outdoor applications.

In addition to being RoHS compliant, Aimtec’s AM30E-Z carries the CE mark for emissions and immunity standards IEC 61000-4, EN55022 Class A and EN55024. Samples are available from stock.
